So what is a Mala?
Malas are strands of beads used by several spiritual traditions around the world as part of a mindfulness/prayer/meditation practice. They can be wrapped around a wrist or worn as a necklace. They can be displayed on an altar or carried in a pocket. No matter how you engage with a mala, its traditional purpose is to help a person move through a series of mantras, affirmations, or prayers.
Sometimes, a mala is used to simply count mindful breaths. I find this last practice especially helpful for soothing anxiety, cooling anger, and centering scattered energy.
Traditional malas are made of 108 beads with a knot between each bead. The mala maker hand ties each knot with an intention that becomes an energetic signature of that mala.
For example, if you want to feel more peace in your life, I may tie each knot repeating the affirmation, “I am surrounded by Peace in all that I do.” Your mala will carry the energy of peace and impart peace to your aura and energy body in support of your desired feeling. There is a lot of numerology to malas, which I’ll cover in a later post, but for now, know that malas can be divided into segments, and multiple affirmations or mantras can be infused into a single mala.
This mala is called “Shamanic”. I created it to support healers who use shamanic practices or traditions in their work. In our energetic universe, everything vibrates with a unique frequency. The gemstone beads used to make this mala are believed to support various aspects of being a shamanic conduit for healing.
Serpentine holds Divine energy within the Earth. Machu Picchu is largely serpentine rock, as are other energy vortexes, like San Francisco, CA. Serpentine aids spiritual exploration by opening doors to psychic assistance and otherworld realities.
Black Tourmaline is a powerful energetic protector, which all shamanic healers need when traveling through the worlds or encountering dark energies during a healing process. Black Tourmaline acts like an additional guardian on any journey.
Angelite, as its name implies, facilitates conscious contact with the angelic realms. It deepens attunement to the energy matrix and heightens big-picture perception of the world. Angelite also transmutes pain and disorder into healing and wholeness. Together these stones work in harmony to support journeywork, soul retrieval, connection with spirit guides, and receiving healing downloads from Source Energy.
I create a card for each mala that contains information about the energetic properties of the gemstones and affirmations that come through me while I’m creating each piece. A few of the intuited affirmations for Shamanic are: “I am nourished and energized by the unconditional love of Mother Earth.”
” I am supported by a legion of spirit helpers.”
“Intuition guides my path with wisdom from all the worlds.”
“It is safe for me to shine as the healer I am.”
